More Course Information
Each 'Beginners' course lasts six weeks, during which time we teach you how to train your dog to be a better behaved dog, and therefore a happier member of your family! The classes last approximately one hour at each weekly session. The numbers on each course are strictly limited to allow for as much individual attention and help as possible. We accept puppies for training as soon as they are fully vaccinated - usually around 12 - 14 weeks.
We do not hold difficult tests on our courses, every dog and owner receives a certificate at the last class.
We hold several 'Beginners' courses at different times during the week, offering you the choice of:
a) Tuesday evenings (7pm) at the Finchley Sea Cadet Hall, 184a Long Lane, Finchley N3.
b) Monday evenings (7.30pm & 8.30pm) at the Finchley Sea Cadet Hall, 184a Long Lane, Finchley N3
The aim of the 'Beginners' course is to help you get the best possible response from your dog in the basic control exercises, including Recall, Walking without pulling on the lead, Sit, Down, Bed, Grooming, Handling for Vet examination and grooming. Other exercises include Stays, controlling Jumping Up and Play Biting/ Mouthing and Go to Bed along with with a basic grounding in dog behaviour and responsible dog ownership. We also give you information sheets detailing training exercises and further literature covering many aspects of dog ownership, such as your legal responsibilities, dog health and management, adolescence etc.
After the 'Beginners' course you may wish to progress onto an 'Intermediate' course, and then join our 'Advanced' class. Many of our pupils go on to take part in specialised doggy sports and our classes give an excellent grounding for any of the advanced 'canine activities'!
